What are Insolvency Practitioners?
Once a company, partnership or insolvent individual has reached an official state of insolvency (i.e. cannot pay creditors or when liabilities are greater than assets), it is necessary to engage the services of an insolvency practitioner. Insolvency practitioners frequently come from an accountancy or legal background, but the licence is a separate qualification: passing the JIEB examinations, meeting an experience requirement, and holding a licence from a recognised professional body. Only a licensed practitioner can take an appointment as an office-holder. You can check any practitioner’s licence on the Insolvency Service register. Their duties include acting in procedures such as:
- Liquidation
- Company Administration
- Winding up Petitions
- Company or Individual Voluntary Arrangements
Where We Are
Langley House is on Theobald Street in Borehamwood, a short walk from Elstree & Borehamwood station and about twenty minutes by train from central London. It houses both AABRS® and our sister firm Accura Accountants. Most of what we do does not need you to come to us at all: the first conversation is normally by phone or video, and where a meeting helps we will arrange one somewhere convenient.
