What are Insolvency Practitioners?
Once a company, partnership or insolvent individual has reached an official state of insolvency (i.e. cannot pay creditors or when liabilities are greater than assets), it is necessary to engage the services of an insolvency practitioner. While these individuals are often accountants or solicitors, their qualifications exceed those professions in that they have passed the insolvency exams, gained experience in insolvency cases, and are members of an officially recognised body.
